Latvian ethnographic patterns are very beautiful. Besides, they bear a definite meaning. This design consists of three symbols – the Moon, the Sun and the Firecross.
The Moon protects soldiers, its a deity of fertility. Its pointed ends are usually seen in combination with the sign of the Sun. The Sun is a strictly symmetric sign, a symbol of eternal movement and life, wisdom and awareness. The Firecross is a sign of happiness and energy, the sign of the Sun and fire, wind and thunder, often seen in very different and complicated images.
