- This motion picture is based on authentic historical material about the Lithuanian resistance movement and the legendary freedom-fighter Juozas Luksa and his family. In Lithuania there were thousands of families with the same destiny. Two of Juozas' brothers, Stasys and Jurgis, were killed when they were fighting in the underground. His other two brothers, Antanas and Vincas, were exiled to Siberia. Their father was broken down by the loss of his sons. Juozas Luksa continued his struggle for the freedom of Lithuania and as a representative of the underground movement in the West. He told the West the truth about the situation in Lithuania and pleaded for their support. While in Western Europe, he met a Lithuanian girl, Nijole, and married her. (A tragic love story!) He returned to Lithuania and continued fighting against the illegal soviet occupation. He was killed by the KGB, at the age of 30.
