- Riga Chamber Choir AVE SOL, conductur Imants Kokars. Recorded at the Church of St. Francis in Riga.
This CD presents a selection of sacred songs taken from the 12th volume of the Anthology of Latvian Choral Music. The volume covers a period of 60 years from the Second World War onwards, or more precisely - from the Soviet occupation of Latvia in 1940. The songs on this CD, however, are choral works written mainly in the last decade of the 20th century, for it was only after the collapse of the totalitarian regime and the renewal of Latvia's independence that church life and sacred music could once again flourish and develop freely. . 1.
