  • Riga Chamber Choir, conductor Imants Kokars. Recorded at the Church of St. Francis in Riga. This CD contains a selection of folk songs arrangements written 1940-1965. During this period composers devoted particular attention to folklore, seeking stability in the cultural heritage of their people at at time when Latvia was shattered by war and occupying forces. The same applied to Latvian composers who, together with over 150000 of their fellow citizens, fled the Soviet occupation, sought refuge in the West and created a world of Latvian music there.
