- The vocal symphonic music concerts are a traditional part of the Song Celebration. Alongside the honouring of sacred music, the multi-coloured voices of folklore ensembles, alongside the choir wars and the majestic organ of the communal choir on the Mežaparks stage – the united choir of the vocal instrumental concert is like an indispensable Song Celebration colour, without which the large celebration fabric would be by one fabric stripe poorer.
The programme of the vocal instrumental concert of this Celebration – Latvian composer opuses from their beginnings to the present, and popular opera hits by two foreign composers celebrating anniversaries – Giuseppe Verdi and Richard Wagner. Classical values created by Latvian old masters thinking in the spirit of romanticism make up the nucleus of the programme, but alongside these chrestomathic compositions will be music composed after World War II and which represents the development gait of Latvian music, showing it as multi-layered as possible. ARTISTIC GROUP: artistic director Mārtiņš Ozoliņš, director Dāvis Sīmanis, project manager Indra Lūkina
