- This record of social songs of Latvian fraternities includes a number of traditional students’ ballads. The history of the singing tradition of the academic youth dates back several centuries: it started with the formation of first student fraternities, the origins of which can be traced back to the universities of Bologna, Padua, Salerno, Paris and Toledo of the late 11th – early 12th centuries.
Members of the Selonija, Lettgallia, Talavija, Tervetia, Fraternitas Academica, Fraternitas Lataviensis, Patria and Vendia Latvian student fraternities were among those who took part in the recording of the album.
