- This set of four DVDs has been released as an accompaniment to the collection of methodical games, roundels and dances “Šoks broliukai šokinį“ (Brothers will dance). It presents 95 dances of all Lithuanian regions danced authentically, in refined manner and correct style.
An old saying goes – „it is better one time to see, than ten times to hear“. This old truth certainly proves itself when one tries to learn traditional Lithuanian dances by going deep into their performing specifics, seeking to highlight and convey the unique manner of the Lithuanian dance, searching for individual forms of the dancer‘s expression.
A variety of dancers of different age – from a child, a juvenile to a senior – coming from diverse places in Lithuania, distinguishing for particular dancing character, have been filmed. The idea was to present unlimited possibilities of dance interpretation, to emphasise the special value of the authenticity of performing instead of hoisting the affluence of moves and figures and their ingenious twine.
Each of the four Lithuanian regions is presented in a separate DVD, each comprising a number of most characteristic dances of the region ranging from 17 to 39. It is the first publication of such extent, presenting the full retrospect of traditional dances of the Lithuanian regions.
