- This publication is dedicated to Aleksandra Dzērvīte (1904-1996), the Latvian applied arts expert and craftswoman, autstanding needlewoman and teacher. During the 1930s and 1940s, sje was a witness to the development of contemporary applied arts in Latvia; however, living in Canada after the Second World War and working with the Union of Latvian Craftsmen, she was able to realize the teachings of her late husband Arvīds Dzērvītis about " contemporary uniquely Latvian applied arts". The main directions of A.Dzērvīte's professional activities are described, including hand drawn sketches, original compositions and photographs of her creations. Also included is a manuscript of teaching materials, with primary sources from private and family archives.
