- Burkanmaize, or Carrot Bread, has become a rather popular specialty bread in Latvia. It is based on the traditional dark Latvian rye bread, but it has a milder flavor and it's not quite as heavy as the dark rye.
This is the same bread that we ship fresh directly from Latvia, but we have some loaves left on-hand in our freezer in Connecticut. It will be thawed by the time you receive it (en route 2-3 days), but will seem fresh as ever.
- Net weight approx. 4.4 pounds (2 kg). The loaves are hand made, therefore there will be slight variation in the net weight.
Ingredients: rye flour, leaven, rye malt, sugar, carrots, salt. No preservatives or additives are used.
As of September of 2008, the US Customs office in New York has enforced new policies which have substantially increased the costs of handling shipments of our perishable items such as bread. As a result, we had to adjust the prices to cover the additional handling costs.
