- The book gives an overview of building history of twelvw Estonian nunneries and monasteries over a period of nearly 400 years on the general background of European monasticism. The main focus is on finds unearthed during archaeological excavations of monastic buildings in Padise, Rakvere, Tallinn and Voljandi as well as materials kept in Estonian museums, archives and libraries, with parallels from other urban centres and monateries both of Estonia and Europa.
